so everybody is from Protestant Church apart from you … right everybody is Protestants here … any Catholics Orthodox
The money session, and the one where the room talks about ownership, funding and what it means to hold a business loosely.
Same topic, three different evenings, three different rooms.
| Run | When | Venue | Min | Voices | Film | Film % | Intro→Disc | Facil. |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cohort 1 | — | startup hub | 88 | 15 | standard | 31% | 0.91 → 1.1 | 57% |
| Cohort 2 | 2025-05 | convention centre used by City Harvest Church | 100 | 20 | standard | 36% | 0.15 → 2.11 | 39% |
| Cohort 3 | 2026-02 | corporate office | 103 | 23 | substitute | 19% | 0.47 → 1.77 | 41% |
This session carries the lowest average depth of the eight. It is also the one where the facilitator talked most in Cohort 1.
Cohort 1. Met in a startup hub for 88 minutes with 15 voices in the room. The standard film was shown, taking 31% of the evening. 7 questions were put. Coded depth rose from 0.91 in the introduction round to 1.1 in the discussion. The facilitator took 57% of the turns.
Cohort 2 · 2025-05. Met in a convention centre used by City Harvest Church for 100 minutes with 20 voices in the room. The standard film was shown, taking 36% of the evening. 5 questions were put. Coded depth rose from 0.15 in the introduction round to 2.11 in the discussion. The facilitator took 39% of the turns.
Cohort 3 · 2026-02. Met in a corporate office for 103 minutes with 23 voices in the room. A substitute film was shown, taking 19% of the evening. 8 questions were put. Coded depth rose from 0.47 in the introduction round to 1.77 in the discussion. The facilitator took 41% of the turns.
Plan for 15 to 23 people. The sequence is the one feature of the evening with a measurable effect, and it should be run whole.
Ask about funding gaps and what the person is holding onto. Stress as the warning light is the film's own frame and the room takes it.
FDE promo, Kaestner intro, the Bertie Lawrence / WastePlan profile from South Africa, then J.D. Greear on steward versus owner.
Cohort 3 substituted the FDE Group 'Identity in Christ' episode with Phil Vischer of VeggieTales on bankruptcy and identity.
The Vischer substitute gives the room a failure story to answer, which suits a session about not owning the thing you built.
A substitute was used in 1 of the three runs. Across all 24 sessions, substitution made no measurable difference to marker density (1.89 against 1.58, Mann–Whitney p = 0.20). What it changes is the subject matter.
Share of the 78 participant contributions carrying each subject, against its share across all 618 contributions in the corpus.
Frames raised: Differences between church cultures (3), Expatriate and transnational life (3), Shame and failure (1), Contrast with a home country (1), Western hustle and VC norms (1).
Where the room took a position on that material, it pushed back or negotiated 5 times against 0 endorsements.
Who speaks: 24 contributions from women, 39 from men.
Choose three. No recorded session got through more than about three at any one table, so the rest are a reserve rather than a plan.
All 110 coded turns from the three runs of this session, with their quotation codes, speaker codes and coding. Speakers carry a stable pseudonymous code with sex attached, so the same person can be followed across sessions and citations without being named.
so everybody is from Protestant Church apart from you … right everybody is Protestants here … any Catholics Orthodox
some of them are Christians from very beginning just from first almost like like me uh some of them became two Christians through doing the business sometimes for [joy] sometimes for suffering I'm personally very excited about this because uh uh it helped me to answer lots of questions uh and it helped me to run company much easier
we uh don't like how the marketing industry is uh working nowadays because it consists of two components uh the inefficiency and lies … and that all creates 20 billion [worth] of waste every year … we are trying to be very Redemptive in trying to create a software give it let people use
in my previous uh companies so we have uh listed our companies we have sold our companies um I've always found uh the absence of God in the marketplace yeah a lot of things I saw were very disappointing yeah [you'd] be surprised what people get away with and and the companies that we've been we've raised like hundreds of millions of dollars so uh yeah actually that made me feel even more lost
this entrepreneurship Journey was not easy quite lonely I'm so glad I think I really thank God that I found him … you're not [doing] this alone and it doesn't always have to be profit driven it can be God Centric
the concept is it's it's Redemptive in nature you you give first and you bring values and you know that God will give you back in multifold that's DMV
I'm actually freeth thinker but then the the Journey of meeting you guys like last time and today accidentally came here … I always say maybe God leads me this way in fact what are the odds … someone maybe got that can actually have some arrangement to my life
I don't really have a business now uh at the moment I came out of a black bath um really um about uh my ex- bus partner um literally siphoning up all the money … I don't know why I'm here but I hope I find myself soon … it was a it was a pretty bad Journey uh ended in April so I'm yeah still trying to recover from that
I also felt that uh it was was was a good push or pull you know to uh to come here and experienced the journey with fellow entrepreneurs to uh do God's business in a Marketplace
every time when my company hits different junctures you know either is it like something that I need like help or like spiritually or whatever I always run to [FACILITATOR] so it's like I'm like the Lost guy
the a common [problem] between Singapore and Japan is that children's education has become an overly uh competitive [society] uh children do not help each other and they are lonely in their hearts so I de develop the education tool and allow children to help each other
we are exploring uh helping [ministries] evangelize better through the use of casual games gamification and games … I think God is pointing his heart towards the genz right obviously yeah I hope to be able to be used in that space
I'm trying to um create a new fund a crypto fund I want to create my own tokens … why I'm here is because I want to run the business in a different way now after so many years … in the past it's like oh my own and my my team as well … put gods in the first place so I thought maybe something is not right
I've always uh been fascinated with uh business as a mission … I want to hear from real [Christian] entrepreneur their challenges … I've always um have this struggle of how to balance you know a uh God Centric you know uh uh businesses
why I'm here is because I really want to make sure Jesus is the first thing in my business and that that's the most important thing
they really celebrate when they and get successful I met so many successful ex showback entrepreneurs … us adopting this kind of mindset is a really great thing yeah to be happy for people to grow through us … maybe that's a that's a God's plan
I see a lot funny things in the in the business like people doing some funny funny things in the business so was like quite shocked … how do I as a Christian entrepreneur I try to be righteous like in the marketplace … SE actually means a righteousness in the Hebrew … actually I'm Chinese Indian those people always mistaken me for Filipino
God has created everything in such an abundance he doesn't really care whether we are 10K [MRR] or 10 million [MRR] for him it doesn't matter if we are bad people he'd rather make us back to 10K so we get saved rather than we will be getting a new car … that's why for [rich] people is actually much harder to to to be saved
you're on LinkedIn you're on these like influencers entrepreneurs and it's all about like owning this thing growing this thing making this thing this whole thing but it it's actually a lot less stressful if you're like it's not my company I'm helping run it but it's God's company … it can take a lot of pressure off you too because it's not like I got to make this thing work or it's my fault
not just about my business but also about my whole life yeah like like how do I Steward my time or my resource or my connections … even when I first started my business I as myself like what do I want to bring bring you know To My Grave when I go heaven what's the most important thing and I realized that uh it's about like like like doing God God's work
many entrepreneurs actually came to conclusion that their success is a a sequence of uh suddenly happening lucks to them or something that it's very hard to explain as being a you know a strategy … if we do it for him he will let us grow uh let us grow our businesses so we can we can do more and then if we don't then it's quite likely the opposite will happen
I do a lot of Arts from very young uh childhood I I play music instruments professionally … being technical but also executing … you can put a lot of Arts into it … I doubt I would get marketing uh deep enough if I'm not a musician in the beginning
I feel very uh grateful that I I'm really making a lot of people happy because they're doing something that they're passionate about … maybe we are we are all born with a purpose that given by gods right some is to build up something some is to do something well all the purpose of our life is given by God … maybe it's my my life purpose is to do this do this business
God is the best boss he he let us grow he loves us so he will always come if we need help and we we repent and we ask him for help but also at the same time when we're doing wrong uh he going to give us a lesson
so for Orthodox Church for we don't even have a rule to give 10% that's why churches are quite uh quite poor quite often for uh for for [Protestants] we we do we do give we have Tiding … do we really realize that every [cent] is actually also his … if we don't use our talents and and money for for his purposes then it's a little bit like cheating in a sense because it has never really belonged to us
I don't think we ever felt that we uh we own it partly because it's so volatile … every day we are living by Grace really … over the last 10 years that we have run an agency at least there are three distinct points where God has really uh came in with a a a client out of nowhere to sort of like help us uh in a very major way
what made me really learn about this [idea of] ownership is my my two kids … I'm the master of their future really I can craft their path … they we really stewards of them … it's a very Chinese thing yeah so that's me as a Chinese parent speaking
I conate my longest career longer than any job … I'm from a computer science background … I have a very very very crazy art side I also a very very very very technical logic site … God has allowed this whole journey and so that I can be what I am today
no I've never felt that I owe God uh that's one thing in my whole Christian Journey … why why from the perspective of if I've given everything the way that you know God has wanted me why am I you know ending up in in in a situation like this right now … a little bit burned a little bit scared … there are a lot of things that they are trying to ask me to do uh that's not right … go why have you given me this talents and this ability but then I don't have the right space um you know to Showcase it
I was in the conference recently there was 50 startups I was doing a panel I said raise your hand nobody raise apart from one person and eventually that person just raised from accelerator it's a [venture] winter there's no money in the market
we have told uh few of the clients that they should go and choose a different type of company … we could have charged them we could have solved uh Runway issues … those clients who live they leave a space for much better clients … when you don't do right you're going to get all the opportunities in the world that shut in a very last second and you cannot explain that mathematically impossible … the moment start doing things right opposite out of nowhere
God will connect and put the person in the right place at the right time so if things don't go on smoothly and there's some blockages along the way that means this is not the not the right not the right person or the right uh yeah the right match … always pray and then uh about the projects and see whether God's open the way
we rely on ourselves too much we we praying in church we praying maybe in the morning … the moment The crucial decision comes what shall I do what shall I do start [phoning] calling friends … and that is that is the thing I was catching myself in … prayer should be a constant constant part of our life like all decision making that we doing
Hi everybody. Um, I'm [FACILITATOR]. I've been uh probably about six times or so. This is what I do. We we banks, right? I don't think there's a lot of folks. It's it's very good to meet new people over here, right? Not 71, not as popular maybe. Um but yeah I I love to meet and chat and really find out from everybody in the room learn from your f from the businesses
he came many many times when he came first time he was very very broken business doing some books some some bags from the recycle stuff
Hi my name is [F012] I am a lawyer and I don't do … So anyway, I'm a lawyer and I've been doing this for 10 years. I actually sort of like act like a doctor, diagnose your business and see where you have risk and try and protect strategy advice from Singapore all around the world. So what fun fact is I give menopausal women talk.

hi I'm [F010] um I have I work for a startup. We just started an office in Apac and I joined them to set up the APC operations space. um first time here. I uh also worship at Redemption Church
[M008] Capital. I started exactly two days ago. Prior to that, I ran a started very well. Sorry. Started very well. I used to run a … fintional two fun facts. The first one is that I started my entrepreneurial journey by 15 years ago. Back then trade would take up to four weeks because you had to send cash by post.
I'm actually teaching in children enrichment center. So what brought me here is also my fun time. Uh on last Friday I was supposed to attend a zoom class under level the office is uh that space and when I attended the started attending the course I don't know whether you know [PERSON] came on and I don't know what he's talking about but it's just beyond me talking about some So anyway, I stayed on and then after the break came on and he started talking about life and at the time I was actually facing a lot of challenges. How come this guy is doing all these things in a commercial class and also anyway I think I was ministered to God and after he session and decided to sign up was After the whole session, then I discovered that all along the wrong and after I went back to the correct class. Thank you.
I've been to a few of these so far. I'm doing a variety of things, but … CMOC incubate it's not necessarily working … church of God Singapore and fun I guess from the US every single I guess you got a book already right that's right
[M002] as well not a not a … VC so currently work for tech e-commerce company Um but trying to like start up a business with my wife like on software development. I've been a developer for more than 15 years … renting out my comics when I was in primary school. This is my second time. So, nice to meet you. Thanks for having my name here. probably the oldest entrepreneur here. I started my company 40 years ago and and 20 years back I I got tired of business. So I'm still running a foundation working in Cambodia but being an entrepreneur you can the itchiness of starting business always there. So now I I'm starting building a resort in as well. So I I work at Ml. I find very boring you know. So I thought maybe entrepreneur.
My name is [M029]. Uh, told me that I'll get pizza if I so … So, so this first time but many time in this office because it's office. So humble place like God. So we right here because I put that I want to see how we can help incorporate God more into our business and that's where we share our thought and then more students but currently we have to Singaporeans that learns uh that they want to learn about investing and train uh through us. as of now we also are improving our products with fund students to also uh invest rather than just
probably the oldest entrepreneur here. I started my company 40 years ago and and 20 years back I I got tired of business. So I'm still running a foundation working in Cambodia but being an entrepreneur you can the itchiness of starting business always there. So now I I'm starting building a resort in as well.
everyone I'm [M032]. So currently I'm working as an interior designer. Yeah. So uh yeah I'm actually not in entrepreneurship yet. So tech is I don't really understand what you're talking about. So I think tech something like this. Yeah. So no idea at all but yeah some new businesses are here actually coming here. So you're already way back. Yeah. So uh yeah, basically I'm here to support for the ship
Hi everyone. I'm [M029]. Um, I I run a small company here that helps companies um protect their profit margins against currency risks as well as make more costs efficient international payments. Um, I'm from Bethany Independent Church and uh fun fact is I'm also a relatively new about seven months old. Um
My name is [M036]. Um I'm from cohort one. … I my day job is a wealth. So I very similar to I help people to invest in for passive income. But one day God called us to help income and lower income … passive pass. It was a big challenge because we had to put aside everything that we are used to doing and figure out how to do that. So right now we run a startup called and I helps people to build digital digital capacities.
it's my second time and I'm actually a marketing professional for more than 10 years in various industry like consumer electronics, beauty, luxury uh and healthare. So I'm studying like my uh digital marketing and coaching entre uh business. So um yeah, so I'm here to learn from everyone and my journey. Fun fact, I'm not born in Singapore. So you can guess where you talk to me later.
I'm [F030]. I started grow public relations. We are agency working. Yeah. Yeah. So we focus on uh and I started this about like six, seven years ago. So what brought me here was that I saw this event on Eventbrite and then I've been listening a bit to the podcast. Um a fun fact about myself is that I actually created a localized game for seniors some time back and that was what got me started on this entrepreneurship journey. Um I started it because my grandma has dementia. Yeah. Um I also have a daughter who is almost five and I worship at Gospel Life Church.
I'm a people person the way that I'm strong as a connector. So the business that I work for is a driven content business and so I work as a time relations manager. Um and so that's what I do work wise. I'm entering into new season. Uh so all I can say is it's very much business for profit or even for kingdom or even nonprofit. The most current one I'm looking at is work with … So what brought me here because of \[Music\] I attended faith driven entrepreneur conference
I'm 10 years in software sales um and recently also corporate came out um did my own thing and actually is a segway to fun myself. So how how I got into that was uh by accident. So basically um I got I got laid off right. I also leave the company my last company and during the last week of my employment my then boss connected me to his ex colleague who is this um yeah guy and was running a consulting business and so I met him to work on a certain deal. It was actually the last week but I was supposed to meet up with him to work on some deals. Um and then that became an opportunity for him to invite me to join him as a partner because he saw the synergies between my expertise and his consulting business. So [F022] story short, I joined it to build the IT consulting and so that's how that kind of sped my whole business story entrepreneurship and it's been six months and it's a wild ride. … so what brought me here? Thanks to [FACILITATOR]. I think he's been messaging me like every week.
Let's all just pray that you will be healed by Jesus name.
I actually right now just transitioned from my CFO/investment director role at the family office where we invested into a next company to a portfolio company that we actually set a few years ago with heavy weight in the insurance industry. So now I transition over as a director to help drive the growth and particularly from the investing experience for the finance industry.
I used to serve at NCC for more than 10 years and before I became a mother and now I'm rich mother of three and co and exposed to many other messaging and also overseas. So right now I'm actually in the John Chilik [John G. Lake] Ministry from the US which is probably now currently the world's largest healing focus ministry. And the fact is the fact is the truth is we Jesus said that it's finished. What is it finished? What he done on the cross he actually given back the authority and command healing not to pray for baby. God's will is for us to be healed right now, right here. For you to be healed, it's not wait for you to go to you to get it because that's what Jesus done. And I mean, a lot of people would say that no, it's not blah blah blah. But if you really study the Bible, that's what it is. … So before the cross, Jesus sent out the 12 disciples and give them power to heal to heal the sick and cleansers and cast out devils. Luke chapter 9, Luke chapter 10, he sent up 70 two by two, same thing. And after the cross, after he rose, he he went to talk to the disciples. He appeared in front of the disciples Peter and Mark 16. And he said that preach preach the gospel of the kingdom of God and anyone who believe the signs to follow and one of which is the healing.
I have a very strong feeling that I should go and talk to him. So I just stand up and walk to his table. Very fine, right? I'm more coming to your table and say are you a guy from YouTube? I just say yes I am. I say like I'm in marketing. How do you run your ads? And he's like then let me talk talk and then we get to know each other and after two years I mentioned we end up running FD in his office. And on that time when I met him I first didn't know if he's Christian second I didn't know I want to be right and this is very fun but also great way how God actually connects all of us
clearly you know the parable of the parents also said it's all about stewardship and when you see something that is not yours but it is in your custody just like the kids many of us here are parents. So when you see the children you are given such a privilege to guide and to grow to help the children to grow. So in that sense it's a more detached emotionally and you do not force up on your own ideas up on you know it's not as subject to you but rather that is you belong to someone else and you're here to help and in that your approach in your mind first of all your integrity definitely is a lot stronger because you are accountable to somebody else you're not accountable to yourself so we deal with the integrity is there and the everything else you're still working and It's very different from just holding something. Something you are a lot more casual. I like it, I don't like it. I throw it away. Whatever I do, you know, who cares? It's mine. But um when you need to be uncomfortable, everything else changes. Perspective changes. So I think that's ultimately own for years. Yes. Yes. Yes. So else it you are in marketing, right? There's very famous uh advertisement the tagline was what is it on the the watch was it a philip pic [Patek Philippe] you never own it you simply you're simply um what is it called safekeeping for the next generation
It's a humbling experience, but it also led me to to realize how I wanted to approach. That's why I found out about three … me or I made this decision this is why we financial success or if something goes wrong then it's not you go well it's you know before right \[Music\] before I both myself right but it's just stepping back uh releasing you know after really losing … everything is your will just show me what I can do but also at the same time I'm not very good at times to to kind of show me and the last chance you know my wife is the one who who really helps guide me a little bit more uh with with the word of God
sometimes she just go on her very top of her house and and she say hey go you you're my CEO so you got to figure out how do I accelerate … sometimes I really don't have money to bring my salary but the moment you are rooted with these principles and my wife hear this from me. I said no worry go to product and honestly it's always happening uh you feel like you don't have money to pay wherever police or suppliers or uh you don't have enough funds to fund raise kind of just your runway is very short and then suddenly you get a project of 100k coming out of nowhere and then everything is settled … every time actually right decisions the whole business get blessed and every time I'm doing wrong … decision most of us then It's also directly rolling back even those deals that are bulletproof 100% going to happen just drop last moment or somebody come and try to sue you even though you're 100% right just just happens. So so those things actually shaping us very much. we we we could not go on the next level unless we actually pass through the struggles we face in the level where we are
what God really really cares is about what how you transform your life to the learning that the life that he's given you the opportunities that it's given you so the hardship that you go through is also process of sanctification because it doesn't matter I mean caretakers we basically caretakers our children belong to him then so you are not um conforming to the image of Christ then all what we do is actually call Jesus your Lord that you don't walk through the sanctification process and working is in the sanctification process because you go through ups and downs. So for me was when I started uh my own firm I wanted to do it like a small scale because I just wanted to live out my passion and want to be able to do things that I can like have time for God and the purpose I was doing very well. I didn't even have a website and uh work like like continuously because I had a lot of referrals from overseas firms but then I started like thinking oh no but what about the locals and I have a local city website you know but God told me he will provide that was very clear when I started so when I actually had a website work went really low really really low I didn't have much work coming in because I decided to do a website which means I was not I know you all might think that this ridiculous but to me it was something that I know God spoke to me just rely on him and that's it and one and a half years I mean I did have clients but it was not as comfortable as months before some years before I was doing very well with co times and um so when I totally stopped grumbling and decided to focus on surrendering that was really critical because you're totally giving up you to totally rely on trusting and I think that really changed me and that felt like you know it's like mana right you know you know you want to keep next what happens next day but actually go prot shoulder surrender and trying to have faith trust that you sanification whatever
what wants my business to exist if he wants me to do what I'm doing of course he will provide it's all his anyways just doesn't make sense if if if this uh is what he wants then of course it will work that's why I'm not worried about for example attendance that look at this right five minutes before the session there was one person
And when when you actually totally surrender giving up and then realized that hey you're down right there's nothing else but up. So so when God changed that perspective me I I started seeing a lot of stuff coming a lot of people contact me from out of nowhere and that's because all these clients I have a lot but locals and God has been changing things for me. I'm now enjoying work more than I ever done before.
And this is actually this impact the way your employees see the world. And this is very important, right? So we are all business owners. We not just have lots of people who were privileged lots of people trusted us and our businesses. So I got some of my employees asking, "Hey, how do you do? Like last month you told me that you know this measures and now all breaks and we go for the company. What did you do but where did you get it from? Just like you like is it because you're always doing this events and stuffing around what do you do? I'm like I know this always happens. Don't worry. It happened for the last three years. Always in the last moment go.
In fact, if you don't do it, maybe we are also stealing in a sense, right? Because these people are given our purp ultimately they work in our companies for some purpose.
projection bonuses mapped out like I was getting tax and then over time I was like yeah this doesn't feel like the right way to do it and I was still doing out of joy I was you know I was like I wanted to do it but I'm just a planned person right and then over time I was like well what if I just was like actually read books on the what's the right percentage and is there right kind of come to there's no right percent but um it's maybe a good starting point for some people and it really comes down to listen to him do you feel like you're not being generous towards him and towards his goals so one year my wife and I decided to give 50% of our income away I was like 30, you know, so like not not rich. I was like, "All right, we're just like half of everything." And then like God the amount I was giving away that was really large amount for me. He gave me a a ring two times the size of that, right? And that wasn't it's not a prosperity gospel thing. It's not like he did that, but it was just like blew my mind. It was like, "Wow, we pray to pray about this for a … weekend. He just gave us way more money than we've given away. I was like richer than before and I was like this is crazy. So we try to follow that where it's consultant is the more we've given away more
So testing as a matter of which I think is a good yeah it's a good reminder he says you can test me right um but give bring your full ti[the] you know to the storehouse right so that so that people have everything but that aside I I just want to point out like I see when I post the video a lot of it is around We robbing God by not doing things. And I think that's a good reminder. But I do feel lost of the good news is actually it's an inverted it's an inversion of how the kingdom of how the world works. Right? So a lot of times we do things in this world because we driven by guilt or fear. But actually the gospel is not driven by guilt or fear. It's driven by God's grace. Right? So we do things out of the grace of knowing what God has done for us. So I think when we give uh it has to be based on the principle of the grace of God in our lives and so what that means is we can think and say oh I'm going to give XYZ this is how I'm going to live my life I do feel after a few days weeks months that'll die down the only way that we can sustain that is if we understand the true grace of what God's done in our lives how he's given us that's the center of the good news right so I just want to bring that up saying it's important for us to reflect on the grace of versus acting, you know, out of a place of guilt or fear because that's not that's not
Sometimes I I got a [cookie] or something something that I have I mean looking at me. So, so, so I got there and I I I passed it to my my daughter Coca-Cola or something like this, right? Something like this. I do it and then they came back to me and then say I left this for you. Honestly, do you really care that bookie? Do you really feel like where are you back? Wow. Yes. No, you don't. It's just a cookie that you know you have a story to your kid. But what is important for you is the fact that the kid come back because of that very limited resources.
Hello everyone, my name is [U028]. I'm [FACILITATOR]'s friend and we are in the same group. So a little bit about myself, I'm in the AI automation space and I'm branching out into AI application.
I'm from [? 'Little Magnus'] Church. So I [am] the founder of this revolutionary [...] 3D geometric spatial [...] AI model. [...] because [LLMs] can only do words, but his model, they spent 13 years developing [...] to apply this [spatial] awareness to a complex manufactured products. So let's say [...] an aircraft engine, you just put in thousands of pages of user manuals
I'm [M058] from New Creation Church. I got back from Shanghai [...] like 20 years, doing my own business, I'm now serial entrepreneur [...] the last 15 years, I have been in a business of impact management [...] investment that goes into businesses that drive triple bottom line, meaning your social, environmental, and financial [returns]. [...] I think it's a good place for me to come and also learn
I used to run a food tech business [...] I'm going over to San Francisco as part of a [...] program with Stanford
I'm [F042], so my husband [and I] [...] we're running the aesthetic clinics [...] I'm in a learning, like learning how to [play] worship by using a keyboard.
Because during my office I got my own room. So I will worship. The song will go all the way. So sometime when [? 'Boris scream' - possibly 'the Holy Spirit'] touch me. So I will stand up and worship. To him or kneel down to him and [praise] him. [...] So, I just learn[ed] drumming about one year.
I do have a company [...] that helps small businesses and healthcare with automation, especially with their admin sort of tasks [...] My full-time job is actually I'm a doctor [...] a fun fact is I am a new dad, I have a 10 month old daughter [...] being a dad is challenging but way more rewarding than my day job.
I work for a family office, but I'm also really interested in social ventures [...] So I'm trying to find out more and build a community.
there is a [faith] driven entrepreneur, right? But [faith] driven is actually bigger than that. They also have something called [faith] driven investor [...] Allocating funds, the right thing, empowering the right businesses and doing it, doing it by faith. With all the KPIs, with all your stakeholders [...] it's not an easy thing to do.
So I'm a Christian educational psychologist [...] I focus on faith and education [...] especially [for] young people, and how to navigate in digital culture and spiritual [formation] [...] [the] digital age can isolate those pursuing authentic spiritual[ity] [...] online trends or performative [?] [...] I have a pastoral heart
I'm KD. I work for a tech startup [...] I actually also serve as a lay elder in a church. So I think the whole integration of faith and work is something very close to my heart. I've really been blessed coming here last year
I'm real estate and corporate [...] real estate as well as [government grant] agent. I deal with all kinds of properties [...] And I do PSG [grant] as well.
my first company is actually a health education company. It's a hardware device manufactured in Singapore. I sold it to over 50 hospitals [...] working [as] G20 impact partner in philanthropy and that actually opened my eyes to the entire world of [blended] finance, family capital [...] I used to be in a space technology company [...] I was actually one of the only female crew
My surname is actually [Seek]. [Seek] the kingdom of God. Yes, this [is] actually my surname [...] the company is also called [Seek] Mode [...] the mode of [seeking]. And I'm really here in this business about creating growth space for [youth] [...] and I'm from [? 'Sydney Harbour Street' - possibly City Harvest Church]
I'm also at the [? 'Indian New Christian' - probably New Creation] Church [...] my day job is [...] officer in the Trust Company. I used to be in the family office space
Professionally, I'm a financial planner, helping people with retirement and saving taxes. Fun fact is I lead the Sunday School here.
I have a company in [martech] [...] Now we are closer and closer to building a roll-up of marketing agencies to transform their operations through AI and the agents. I'm originally a computer scientist [...] I came here to [do] my PhD. Fun fact that is I am Russian [...] and I play a[ccordion]
Yeah, I've been saying I'm a pastor, but I'm a pastor without [a congregation]. I focus my work outside the church for quite many years [...] I get to go to the marketplace [...] the fun fact, currently, is that I have a grand[child] [...] half Polish and half Chinese
since we are [an] ongoing group, we actually changed the video [...] original video was about Bertie Lawrence. What's interesting about his business is that he actually legally transferred 51% of his business to a nonprofit [...] that structure allowed him to make decisions very differently [...] But today there is another video [...] And the emphasis there [is] on who am I and what's my role in the business [...] I think this is the question we all should ask
I started a company after my PhD and I was a super arrogant scientist [...] I raised lots of money millions of dollars [...] how to report the right metric in the right time [...] We had those parties [...] spend lots of money everywhere [...] And then the [war] started. So in one day, I lost all customers [...] because of the sanctions [...] 50 people asking me, okay, Monday, what shall we do? [...] you actually had to get broken to start thinking. That's like one truth [...] Experience[d] entrepreneurs [are] also a bit broken many times.
my business is obviously growing definitely, not just from my efforts. So many absolutely unexplainable things happening around that are just falling from the sky suddenly [...] [a] very famous Christian CEO lady [...] in debts and no cash to pay the salaries [...] they just kneeled down and prayed and [said], you are our CEO. We're very confident you're going to provide us cash [...] maybe I'm your COO [...] And he always provides. He always provides. Like, really, always. If he doesn't, then maybe different planning out there
Phil asks the question, who do you think you are? [...] we often answer that by saying what we do rather than who we are [...] how do you actually work with God and how does that work? And did you face these kind of situations when it's about actually submitting what he wants you to do [...] because you're his child, he loves you
one of my ex-[boss]es and friends told me every time I go for the meeting with a client, I put my first [prayer?] [...] before entering the[ir] room. That's his way [...] I was from our CG.
I think any business owner will know doing business everyday is like fire. Your staff can switch off after 5, don't care on weekend [...] everything from the toilet to the payroll [...] So there's no such thing as switching off [...] in the book of Job [...] but there is a spirit [in] man [...] that gives [...] understanding [...] their quality of their decisions and their wisdom does not equate to your [years] [...] so you [are] youth but you can still speak well. So actually that was my courage
I was in a decision, kill it or carry on [...] To the world, the logical thing is [...] But instead, how God wants this one. So I prayed and the Lord told me, Esther, if I did not want this to come to pass, I will not let you start it. [...] And I also have [mentors] of course who are not of the church [...] one of them said [...] Just bite the bullet. So I bite the bullet [...] once you do it, it's not so stressful [...] I still shake because I still remember that moment. But I'm glad I did
practicing yoga session and he was saying that our brain is actually different every two days [...] [Paul] said to [take] every thought [captive] to the [obedience] of Christ [...] there will be challenges [...] But [do not] let those thoughts take control [...] how to defend the kingdom with the word of God, and how we should shape our mind with [the] precision of God.
You run multiple businesses, I'm sure, not all successful [...] So when is all getting collapsed? Let's say, [God] take[s] over [...] you have right now, tomorrow [...] How would that impact your answer to who you are?
My experience was running my own business with me in it. I was just sharing with Jake earlier on and saying God was in the back seat. I was in the front seat. I was [steering]. God, I have this [...] it's always me taking the lead [...] it took me so [F022] [...] maybe 15 years [...] to realize that I'm not [in] control and God should be in control [...] You take the business and you prosper it [...] And you know what? He actually [...] answered back and he said [...] What do you mean? I was in the business with you. You know, all along the way, [you] just didn't see me. But it's okay. That was your learning process
sometimes in business you feel like God is not there, you know, especially when it's failure and really bad. I got really upset [...] okay God [...] you can't help. So [...] I'm just going to salvage this myself and [...] my salvaging it gets worse and worse [...] I'm able to impart this experience to younger entrepreneurs [...] But what I will do different this time is to put God in the centre. You know, God take the lead.
one thing that I learned is how to counteract [...] It's not challenges, it's really to be still. I want to be still [...] seeking, seeking.
I was always stressed because I was always like [...] losing it or not growing or something like this. Now that I don't have any money, my bank account, publicly declaring, take all today, no problem. It will work, I know. I don't have that kind of stress anymore. [...] Not just words, it's how it works in my case [...] that makes us really strong when you're walking with him.
every day when going for a meeting or meeting a new client [...] pray to god or ask god if [...] you don't [want] me [to] meet [this] person give me a sign something drop on the way or raining on the way [...] tell me, I need to be alert [...] Just say hi, then after say bye, then get up [...] this is what I've been doing for past few years. [...] Then I know there's something wrong in the meeting.
I had some grant in Russia and researchers to take care of [...] the moment the war started [...] all my friends told me [...] don't go [...] they might mobilize you and send you to Ukraine [...] I was [at an] Orthodox Church in London [...] there was a book [...] written by C.S. [Lewis] and I was super shocked how come that book is not a[n Orthodox] book [...] I bought the book [...] Then I went to HTB [...] That's the church where the alpha start[ed] [...] told me [FACILITATOR], I think you already have the answer [...] I flew [to] Russia [...] I took that book [...] Screwtape Letters [...] thank you, you put me a book where I can read exactly [...] fly to Russia and we did all these things
We do excellent work [...] Regardless [of] opportunity [...] because the reason why you're doing it is much greater than [a] particular customer [...] What do you think about the idea of [God] doesn't need us, he wants us
he doesn't need us as founders [...] he['s] using us to help the people around us. Because we are his instrument [...] to [bring] the food to the needy or to do a fundraising for some organization who also got a mission in life and also why are you here today? Same thing.
this morning I've read about how [...] the only person who [didn't die] in the Bible [...] Elijah is also one because he is the one who [walked with] God [...] and then God [took him] [...] so I thought that it's not so much about [working for] God but instead we walk with [him]
How about taking a rest? [...] practical way to remind ourselves that we are not God [...] How do you treat [it]? Do you take it? [...] But what does it mean to you?
So I've been a sabbath since 12 to 13 years now. It's actually been the practice that's helped me to accelerate my achieve [...] I like to push [...] on getting things done and achieved [...] I know that at the end of the day, I have something to fall back on [...] I have this 24 hours [F022] rest [...] So I push myself [...] And it helps keep me [sane?]
Rest, it's in a sense the way how we could get invited to walk with [Him] together, right? Because you are always busy, busy [...] Just like he was also mentioning [...] He was so busy chasing [...] but ultimately he lost himself very much.
every Friday, we [...] have morning walks in [the] park [...] an acronym [...] So you slow down [...] And then we have prayer [walks] [...] in [...] Singapore [...] we love to buy houses right? We love to buy houses, we like to decorate our houses. We spend so much on our houses. But we are the temple of the [Holy Spirit]
when I started the company, the [Lord] has said to me, he showed me a different perspective of the rest. A lot of times we think that we rest from work because after six days [...] we work so hard [...] what he showed me is that [...] the concept is not to [...] rest from work, but rather to start working from that rest [...] the rest that we set aside [...] is really to prepare ourselves
